The solid base of this band was laid during the preparation for, and recording of their debut album "Life On The Edge".
Under guidance of technician Richard Soethoudt, 13 songs were recorded and mixed in barely 5 days.
Singer/songwriter Charley Cruz handed the songs (some with, some without text) to bass player DJ Ciggaar who completed the lyrics.
Drummer Ron Cruz and guitarist Jerry Brown were added to the writing duo, and The Lost Souls were complete.
The "Souls" write short, melodious countrybluespopsongs with a catchy hookline in the rich "Americana" genre.
On their inspired and intuitive search within this idiom, varying from Hank Williams to Calexico, it's easy to get lost.
However, The Lost Souls always land on their feet...
Where?
On the stage!
One time it's a slow and tear-jearking ballad about a long-lost love portrayed in melancholy tones,
......the other a rocking and electrifying uptempo countryblues...!Charley Cruz and the Lost Souls don,t like musical parochialism. Ron Cruz (drums),.D.J.Ciggar (bass), Jerry Brown (guitar) and Charley Cruz (vocals, guitar) travel the country-blues-pop-rock road equipped with a convincingly diverse musical outlook.
After the release of their album Life on te Edge in 2005 they have gigged almost everywhere in Holland.
They were successful as the supporting act of Dwight Yoakam (Paradiso,Amsterdam), The Hacienda Brothers and The Drams (De Bosuil, Weert), Chatham Countyline (Paard van Troje, The Hague), Patricia Vonne and Frank Carillo & The Bandoleras (Qbus, Leiden), and many others.
The release of their next album, again with 14 songs of their own making, is due in March 2009 .
Receiving the assistance of two renowned European agencies in its marketing and distribution (Hemifran's Peter Holmstedt and Sonic rendez-vous) , the birth of their second brainchild will undoubtedley be an important next step in broadening their musical horizon even further.
